A warm welcome to all Men's and Women's teams participating in the upcoming 2004 World Inline Hockey Championships! The Organizing Committee in London, Ontario, Canada are busy at work putting the final touches on our event plans to ensure all teams will have a memorable experience while participating at the largest World Inline Hockey Championships.

We have put together various information regarding the upcoming World Inline Hockey Championships and strongly encourage all teams to review this information prior to your arrival in London, Canada.

The newly opened residence at the University of Western Ontario, Perth Hall, offers a number of services to make each team's stay enjoyable.

Please make note of the following:

ALCOHOL: Under no circumstances will there be any alcohol consumption in public areas (including lounges and hallways). Alcohol consumption is permitted in the privacy of the bedrooms and by persons of legal drinking age, 19 years, only.

SMOKING: Residences and all other campus buildings are smoke-free. Smoking is only permitted in nearby smoking shelters or clearly designated areas.

TOWELS: Towel exchange, one set per person on a clean for dirty basis, is available each day in a pre determined location in Perth Hall.

LAUNDRY FACILITIES: Laundry facilities are available on the second floor, next to the common room and are card access only. Laundry cards are available at the Front Desk and a deposit of $5.00 is required. The Card Loading Centre (to add money to your laundry card) is in Essex Hall, the residence across the road from Perth Hall. Laundry cards must be returned to the Front Desk in order to receive the $5.00 deposit back. Money remaining on the card cannot be refunded. Soap and fabric softener will be available in vending machines on a cash basis for those who wish to launder towels, etc.

HIGH SPEED INTERNET SERVICE (REZ NET): We highly recommend advance arrangements are made for internet access for during your stay in residence. There is a charge of $20.00/week plus GST for this service. To make these arrangements, please visit www.uwo.ca/hfs/cs to register on line. E-MAIL ACCESS: Each participant wishing to use the residence mini e-mail lab in the residence will be limited to a maximum of 15 minutes per use during peak times. Participants will be courteous of other users at all times. The lab allows you to send and receive email. Printing is not available in the residence. UWO BOOKS Plus, located in the strip mall next to Perth Hall, offers a full service copy centre to include printing, photocopying and fax service as well as Western clothing.

TELEPHONES: The telephone number the participant will give out is the Auto Attendant Number for the residence plus the 5-digit extension number on the phone in their room. The Auto Attendant number for Perth Hall is (519) 850-2914. Each phone is equipped with phone mail and free local service. A pre-paid, toll-free calling card (such as 1-800 or 1-888) is required for long distance calls or the call can be placed by calling 9, 1, 800-555-1111from the phone in your room.

MESSAGE AND MAIL SERVICE: Messages for registered guests in Perth Hall are posted in the Lobby of the residence. The number for the Front Desk of Perth Hall is (519) 661-3510.

CAMPUS RECREATION: The University Community Centre features an L shaped, 25-meter indoor pool with diving well for fitness and recreational swimming. Aquatic fitness classes are scheduled at various times throughout the day. The Centre also has as a fully equipped fitness room and an aerobics studio. Locker and towel service is available at the UCC facilities. Passes are sold on a weekly ($20.00/pass) and day basis ($4.00/pass), including lock and towel service. Squash, racquetball and tennis courts are also available on campus for your use. One can also take advantage of the many scenic trails along the Thames River perfect for jogging. Information on recreational facilities is available in the lobby of the residence.

WESTERN FILM: Recent movies show nightly at the University Community Centre, in the McKeller Room movie theatre (adults $4.25 and $2.50 Tuesdays, children 13 and under $2.50). Movie information can be found at www.usc.uwo.ca/wfilm or in the residence lobby.

THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY CENTRE: Located in the University Community Centre is The BookStore (with a full line of UWO souvenir merchandise), postal outlet, pharmacy, computer store, hair salon, variety store, copy services, travel agency, film processing depot, movie theatre (as mentioned above), interac machines and a wide variety of brand name food outlets in the Centre Spot cafeteria.

LONDON ACTIVITIES: London has much to offer the visitor, from festivals and events, to historical landmarks, attractions for all ages and interests, scenic parks, culture, heritage and restaurants to suite all culinary tastes. Many of the local and area attractions are described on the London internet Home Page at http://www.city.london.on.ca. The University Home Page is found at http://www.uwo.ca.

MEALS All meals will be served at the dining room located in the Perth residence on the main floor. Meal times are as follows: Breakfast: 6:30 am - 9:30 am, Lunch: 11:00 am - 2:00 pm, Dinner: 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm. A meal card will be issued to each individual and is required in order to access the cafeteria.

TRANSPORTATION We have arranged for a volunteer from our organizing committee to meet each team staying at the University residence, upon your arrival at either the Toronto International or London International airport. These volunteers will escort you to the transportation arranged to drive you to the accreditation centre.

We have designed an internal transportation schedule that will pick-up teams in front of Perth Residence and drop teams off at the Western Fair Sports Complex. The shuttle will run approximately every 15-20 minutes throughout the day for the duration of the event. A detailed transportation schedule will be available upon your arrival and will be posted at the Perth residence.

TEAM DAY TRIPS Day trips are available to Niagara Falls, Toronto Skydome, Toronto CN Tower and the Hockey Hall of Fame located in Toronto. Teams should pre-arrange these trips by contacting Gary Curgin at: gary@sport-travel.com prior to your arrival in London.

CIRILH ASSEMBLY The CIRILH Assembly is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 22 @ 7:30 pm at the Hilton Hotel. Each team is expected to have a representative in attendance at this meeting.

ACCREDITATION The individual designated to be the team contact MUST register its team upon arrival. The accreditation centre will be located in the lobby of the Perth residence. Event accreditation badges, meal vouchers and registration bags will be distributed at this time.

EVENT OFFICE We will have an event office set up throughout the duration of the World Championships. This office will be located in the lobby of Perth Residence in Room 129. Team mailboxes will be set up in this office and teams are asked to visit the office daily for updated information.

MEDICAL INFORMATION The Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic is happy to support the World Inline Championships. The Clinic is an affiliate of London Health Sciences Centre, one of the leading teaching hospitals in southwestern Ontario. Together, these facilities offer a full range of services to meet your needs. The Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic is open from Monday to Friday from 7am - 6pm. Call 661-3011 to make an appointment. Please identify yourself as a participant in the World Inline Championships and we will do our best to fit you into our schedule as soon as possible.

Since this is an international event there are some things you should know before coming to the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic.

1. Physician Visits - If you require the services of one of our sport medicine physicians please note that Canadian Residents (except Quebec) are covered under a reciprocal billing agreement. Simply present your health card and we will bill your provincial health plan for the service. Quebec and international visitors will be charged $72.00 cdn. for each appointment. Cash (cdn), Visa and MasterCard are accepted. Payment must be made in Canadian funds. In addition to the service fee, International patients will receive a bill from London Health Sciences Centre for a facility fee charge of $110.00 cdn.

2. Physiotherapy Visits - all our physiotherapists are licensed with the Ontario Physiotherapy Association. Some things to remember: - please bring shorts, tank top and running shoes to each appointment - swimwear and towel is required for pool therapy - always arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment - payment is required at the time of each appointment - if you must cancel you appointment please give us 24 hour notice a cancellation fee of $25 will be levied if 24-hour notice is not given.

Physiotherapy Fees: All patients - Initial assessment $70.00 (cdn) Follow up Treatment $40.00 (cdn)

Cash, Visa and MasterCard are accepted. Payment must be made in Canadian funds.

3. Diagnostic Services - London Health Sciences Centre provides a full range of diagnostic services (x-ray, diagnostic ultrasound, MRI, etc.) both at the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic and at the hospital. International patients requiring these services will receive a bill from the hospital following their visit. The fee will vary depending on the services that is required. In addition to the service fee a facility fee of $110.00 cdn. will also be charged.

Please note: The Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic is NOT a Workers Safety Insurance Board (WSIB) clinic. If your injury is work related your physiotherapy fees may not eligible for reimbursement.

4. Out-of Country Insurance - We strongly suggest that all non-Canadian citizens purchase additional health insurance to cover them while outside their country of residence. Review your options carefully to ensure you have adequate health insurance to cover a wide range of medical services if they are required.

DOPING CONTROL All teams are reminded the 2004 World Inline Hockey Championships are a "tested" event. The doping controls that will be conducted at the 2004 World Inline Hockey Championships will be done in accordance with FIRS Rules and Regulations as supplemented by the CCES' "Doping Control Rules" #26-90, Annex A-F as needed. The CCES Doping Control Rules are an element of the larger Canadian Anti-Doping Program and are fully compliant with the World Anti-Doping Program including its Code and mandatory international standards. VISA/PASSPORTS Check with your consulate prior to arriving in Canada to ensure you have all required documentation.

OPENING CEREMONIES The Opening Ceremonies are scheduled to take place Thursday, June 24 @ 8:00 pm at the Western Fair Sports Complex.

Each team is asked to participate in the athletes parade and to nominate an individual from your team to act as the flag bearer. We have live entertainment planned featuring local artists that are certain to keep you amused.

Details of the Opening Ceremonies will be provided in your registration bags upon your arrival.

MEDIA We anticipate local press will be covering our event in London. To ensure maximum exposure of players and teams to the media, we would like to ask each team designate one media contact person. When the media request an interview with a coach or player our Media Chairperson, Gavin Mifflin, will contact the designated media person to arrange for an interview in our Press Room. Please forward your media contact person's name to: Gavin Mifflin @ gavin@sport-travel.com prior to your arrival in London. Your assistance with this request is greatly appreciated.
