August Update

Dear Friends of Canada Inline,

After much deliberation and inquiring with the inline hockey community, we have made the decision that we will be sending a Senior Men's Team to the World Championships this year. The rationale for only sending a Men's Team is that due the fact that this year is a qualifying year for the World Games being held next year. The World Games is an event that only has a Men's division and participation in this year's Worlds Championships is required in order to claim a spot. Due to ongoing complications with travel and other factors in Canada, we are not able to send any other teams (Senior Women's, Junior Men's or Junior Women's) this year, but look forward to having them attend in 2022.

 Therefore, the remainder of this update is information for players who qualify and are wanting to play for the Senior Men's Team.

  • This year's 2021 World Championships will be held in Roccaraso, Italy from September 12th to the 19th, 2021
  • Anyone who wants their name to be considered for the Team now that they know the event is happening, must complete an online application form by Tuesday, August 10th @ 5pm EST. This form can be found by clicking here  or on our website under the Team Canada heading.
  • For those who already completed the form online after our last email, thank you and you do not need to apply again as we have your name on the list.
  • Since we need to move quickly with getting a team finalized so that players can book flights and logistics can be confirmed with everyone, the following process will happen;
    • All online applications will be reviewed and discussed by the Canada Inline Board of Directors and Staff.
    • Without an on rink tryout process this year, we are forced to go by online applications. Those who have been playing and keeping themselves in shape will be strong candidates along with players who have proven they are able to compete at the World level.
    • If you are one of the players/goalies selected, you will be contacted by Canada Inline Staff and unlike other years where you had time to get back to us, you will need to know if you are in or out for this event.
    • As always players will be responsible for their own flights (and Covid travel requirements) and there will be an additional team fee to cover hotel / meal and other team related expenses.
    • Once all successful candidates have been notified and confirmed, a roster will be released and emails will go out to those successful candidates with further details /information.
Good luck to all who have applied and we look forward to being able to announce the roster as soon as possible.
