Canada Inline Update - July 8th
Dear Canadian Roller & Inline Community,
We miss all of you dearly and wanted to provide some important updates as we continue to monitor covid-19 daily and its impact on this year’s events.
As you may have seen shared on our social media pages, World Skate has just officially postponed the dates of the World Championships this summer in Colombia to 2021.
Additionally, although NARCH hopes to take place later in the summer and State Wars is still scheduled for next month, due to the border closures and additional challenges, concerns, and uncertainties with scheduling travel to these events, Canada Inline will not be fielding teams through our Pure Maple program this summer.
We realize this has been a challenging and unique time for all of us and our heart goes out to the Canadian roller hockey community and the many leagues, teams, and players who have been forced to cancel their seasons this spring/summer. However, we are more excited and confident that our sport will be back stronger than ever. We have seen tremendous growth and leadership in our leagues across the country. In the past few years, we have seen new programs develop in many provinces, led by committed and passionate people.
We are also enthused at the progress the sport is making internationally with World Skate, an official Olympic body. As well, we continue to have relationships with major International events such as NARCH and State Wars that offer the opportunity for Canada and our provinces to be represented at all ages and at the highest levels of play. Also, we have been busy planning future events and opportunities that we will be able to offer our players. These will be for all ages and abilities from the 6U level up through the newly added Legends division at the World Championships for players over the age of 52!
You may have already been following our Leaders In The Game live interview series on our social media platforms which have been getting thousands of views every week and gaining great exposure and momentum for our sport. Expect this series to continue to grow as we introduce Legends Of Our Game and also do features on our rink and league program leaders from across the country.
We are already beginning to plan our next events including Winternationals scheduled for early in the new year, as well as our tryout tour across the country beginning in March. Any collected funds for our 2020 tryouts will be automatically credited towards the 2021 scheduled tryouts and will be price protected against any increases. In the event that you participate in Winternationals, you can have your credited funds applied to it. If you would like a refund for any paid fees, simply contact accounting@canadainline.com and Kristine will be happy to assist you.
Thank you so much for all of your passion and support. We look forward to coming out of this time bigger and better than ever, with more opportunities for our players and families to experience this great sport, in their local communities and around the world.
Ben Frank
Canada Inline President
